Reuters reported today that Nvidia has begun designing Arm processors that can run Microsoft’s Windows operating system. AMD is also said to be planning to make Arm-based PC chips, which are expected to be available around 2025.
According to Hankyung, Samsung Electronics is also paying close attention to competitors’ movements and considering entering the PC processor market.
Currently, the PC processor market is dominated by Intel and AMD. In 2022, the market size will reach US$38 billion (currently about RMB 277.78 billion), of which Intel’s market share is about 70% and AMD’s market share is about 30%.
Foreign media believe that the reason why semiconductor companies have entered the PC CPU market is because they believe that the growth potential of the PC chip market is still great.
