NVIDIA RTX 4080 16GB graphics card 3DMark score revealed surpassing 3090Ti 24GB

The first benchmark scores for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB graphics card have been revealed. The unique display has a significant performance boost in 3DMark tests compared to the previous generation 3080, and even this leaked 3DMark and gaming benchmark scores have already beaten the RTX 3090Ti 24GB.

NVIDIA launched 16 GB and 12 GB versions of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 last month, with official MSRPs of RMB 9,499 and RMB 7,199 respectively. The two graphics cards have different CUDA cores, different GPU chips and recommended power supplies of 750W and 700W.

The RTX 4080 16GB is described as having 9728 CUDA cores and 16 GB of high-speed Micron GDDR6X memory, delivering up to twice the performance of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in modern games; and more powerful than the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti at lower power levels.

According to Chiphell user @panzerlied, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB graphics card benchmarked on the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D platform showed a single-precision performance of 53.6TFLOPs in AIDA64, 8% more than the official 49TFLOPs. 8% higher than the official claim of 49TFLOPs.

This compares to the RTX 3090Ti’s 40TFLOPs, so the RTX 4080 16GB single-precision computing performance is arguably 32.5% better than the 3090Ti. It is worth mentioning that the RTX 3090Ti is currently being offered at around RMB 9,000 to RMB 10,000 in the channel, and considering the need for power supplies and other aspects, the overall RTX 4080 does not seem to be as cost-effective as one might expect.

In terms of comprehensive benchmarks, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB scored 13977 in 3DMark Time Spy Extreme, 17465 in 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra, and 17607 in 3DMark Port Royal benchmarking.

For comparison, the heavily overclocked non-public RTX 3090Ti SUPRIM X scored 11,643 in Time Spy Extreme, 13,554 in Fire Strike Ultra and 15,124 in Port Royal. A simple comparison reveals that

In Time Spy Extreme, the RTX 4080 16GB is 20% better than the RTX 3090 Ti 24GB

In Fire Strike Ultra, the RTX 4080 16GB outperforms the RTX 3090 Ti 24GB by 29%.

In Port Royal (DXR), the RTX 4080 16GB is 16% stronger than the RTX 3090 Ti 24GB

In addition to this, there are tests for gaming.
