NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 crossfire can bring several times the OctaneBench performance

@Pugetsystems combined seven NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs at the same time and benchmarked them through OctaBench, which is a little crazy.

Using a 64-core AMD Threadripper PRO 5995 WX processor, ASUS Pro WX WRX80E-SAGE WIFI motherboard, 128GB DDR4-3200 memory, 2 TB Samsung 980 Pro SSD, and four Super Flower LEADEX power supplies (totaling 6400W), the entire system’s power The cost is about $30,000.

It is worth mentioning that because 7 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards require a total of 28 8pin connectors, so he can only use four power supplies at the same time.

To make the whole system run smoothly, instead of using PCIe 4×16 mode, he used a few adapter cables to make it run in PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 mode.

A card is rated at 450W, so seven NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4090 graphics cards can eventually reach 3150W, but considering that the rest of the system also needs power, 6400W of power is definitely enough.

From the final result, the power consumption of seven RTX 4090 graphics cards reached 2750W, and the idle power consumption of seven cards was almost as high as the power of one RTX 4090.

In terms of performance, OctaneBench (with RTX enabled) shows a clear growth relationship. 7 cards can basically bring 4.56~6.9 times performance, which is more reasonable than the SLI performance loss in the “Quad Titan” era (and the consumption of this generation is more reasonable. Advanced graphics cards no longer support SLI).

In addition, some reviewers used 8 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs to run the OctaneBench test, and finally showed a linear growth performance of nearly 8 times, which also shows that RTX4090 can bring very good multi-card expansion capabilities.

So if you have similar work needs, the option to use multiple graphics cards may be a good choice.
