NVIDIA GeForce Now cloud gaming already supports 4K / 60FPS

A few years after its debut, the Nvidia GeForce Now cloud gaming service has finally expanded its streaming options on PCs and Macs. From now on, GeForce Now supports 4K streaming on Windows and macOS.

With GeForce Now’s Windows and macOS app updates now, the cloud gaming service can stream games up to 4K/60FPS, as long as the user’s monitor can handle that quality and refresh rate. However, this only works for native apps, not browser clients. The game also supports 120FPS, but only in 1440p quality.

Of course, streaming games at 4K requires Nvidia GeForce Now’s RTX 3080 tier. Last year, 4K support debuted on the Shield TV alongside a stronger streaming tier. Before this update, streaming was capped at 1440p on PC and macOS.

Nvidia says this upscaled resolution is made possible by the powerful hardware behind DLSS and GeForce Now.

NVIDIA DLSS is a breakthrough AI rendering technology that boosts graphics performance using dedicated Tensor Core AI processors on RTX GPUs to boost 4K streaming. DLSS harnesses the power of deep learning neural networks to increase frame rates and generate beautiful, crisp images for games.

It’s also a notable achievement for Nvidia, one of the cloud gaming services that supports 4K streaming on a variety of devices, GeForce Now.
