Nothing company today launched its second smartphone Nothing Phone 2, which is also the company’s first time in the U.S. market sales of cell phones. The new phone has a stylish design, improved Glyph interface, more powerful processor and camera, larger battery, etc. Its starting price in the U.S. is $600 and is now available for pre-order.
The Phone 2’s design improves on the Phone 1, with a thinner, lighter body and a more rounded glass back for a better feel. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, it offers three different RAM and storage combinations: 8GB+128GB, 12GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB. The screen is a 6.7-inch OLED LTPO 120Hz display, with support for HDR 10+, 10 bit, and up to 1600nit brightness for an excellent display.
The most striking feature of the Phone 2 is its Glyph interface, which is a way of displaying information and interacting with each other that utilizes rear-mounted LEDs. The new Glyph interface uses more LEDs to help convey detailed information about the phone without relying on the screen. Users can use the Glyph interface to view information such as volume, countdown, takeout status, taxi time, and more without having to light up the screen. Users can also set different light modes for different contacts so they can see at a glance when they receive a message. Additionally, users can customize lighting and sound effects through the Glyph editor.
The cameras on the Phone 2 have also been upgraded, with a 50-megapixel rear main camera and ultra-wide-angle camera, featuring a Sony IMX890 sensor that can capture 4K video at 60 frames per second, and a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Phone 2 has a 4700mAh battery for longer battery life, 45W fast charging with a full charge in 55 minutes, 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging.
The Phone 2 also runs Nothing OS 2.0, a customized operating system based on Android 13 and designed to provide a “fast and fluid” experience. nothing OS 2.0 also features a new black-and-white theme, and users can choose to hide app tabs for a cleaner interface. Nothing OS 2.0 also features improved widgets for the home and lock screens, as well as other customizable design elements.
