As a battery manufacturer under Samsung, Samsung SDI is also developing 4680 battery, early last month there were reports that Samsung SDI is testing a variety of 4680 batteries, at least two.
The latest reports from foreign media show that in addition to developing 4680 batteries for Tesla, Samsung SDI is also developing 4695 and 46120 batteries in its battery development program.
Like the 4680 battery, the 4695 and 46120 batteries are both 46mm in diameter, but differ in height, at 95mm and 120mm respectively. That is, one is 20 mm lower than the 4680 battery and the other is 40 mm higher than the 4680 battery.
In the report, the media did not mention the energy density of the two cylindrical batteries developed by Samsung SDI with a diameter of 46 mm, but considering the energy density and power output of the 4680 battery launched by Tesla, it is expected that there will be an increase as well.
It is worth noting that when Samsung SDI reported early last month that it was testing a number of batteries, the two mentioned by the foreign media were also 46 mm in diameter, but the height was not the same as the ones in the latest report, which were 40 mm and 80 mm respectively.
