India is opening up to 5G, Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, OPPO, Realme, Vivo and a host of other manufacturers have said they will provide 5G support for local users. Now, Nokia will also launch its own 5G phone in India — Nokia G60 5G.
This is another Nokia model with 5G support, this one with a 100% plastic back and 60% recycled plastic frame. It also promises a “3-3-3” policy with 3 OS updates, 3 years of security patches and 3 years of extended warranty.
The Nokia G60 5G phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chip and is available in 4GB+64GB, 4GB+128GB and 6GB+128GB (UFS 2.2) storage variants with microSD expansion support.
The Nokia G60 5G phone features a 6.58-inch FHD+ LCD waterdrop display with a 120Hz refresh rate, but with a typical brightness of 400 nits and a peak of 500 nits in older Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
It also features an 8MP camera (0.64µm pixels, 4-in-1) on the front, a 50MP primary camera (1/2.67-inch, 0.64µm pixels, 4-in-1) on the rear, an ultra-wide angle camera 5MP (1/5-inch), and a depth-of-field sensor.
It has a built-in 4500mAh (rated at 800 cycles) battery, but charges slowly and delivers up to 20W (USB-PD 3.0) of power, and is priced at €320 (about R2211.2) in Europe.
India officially launched 5G services on October 1, with the first batch covering only some major cities and expected to be fully rolled out by 2024, and Indian telecom operators Airtel and Jio are expanding their 5G networks nationwide. Apple’s iPhone models, including the latest iPhone 14, and many of Samsung’s flagship phones do not currently support India’s 5G network.
