Nokia Bell completes technology validation of URLLC and high-precision timing

According to the 5G Promotion Group, Nokia Bell successfully completed the technical verification test of low latency and high-reliability communication (URLLC) and high precision timing under the guidance of IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group in October this year.

In this URLLC test, Nokia Bell used mature commercial 5G base stations and terminals based on MediaTek M80 Tiangui 9000 flagship 5G mobile platform to verify key low latency enhancement technologies such as DS1ms low latency frame structure, PDSCH / PUSCH non-slot non-time slot scheduling, uplink PUSCH scheduling-free transmission, and high aggregation level PDCCH, high-reliability CQCH, etc. level PDCCH, highly reliable CQI table, PDSCH / PUSCH low bit rate MCS and time slot level repetitive transmission. Through the integrated application of various key technologies of low latency and high reliability, a reliable low latency performance of 99.99% packet end-to-end bi-directional 8ms has been achieved in the commercial low and medium frequency bands.

The R16 high-precision timing test, using a test terminal based on ZTE’s V516 chip platform, verified that the system information SIB9 sends clock reference information and the terminal provides timing signals to the outside, with a timing accuracy of less than 1us.

Low Latency High-Reliability Communication (URLLC) is an important innovative feature brought by 5G to support lower latency, higher reliability mission-critical communications. URLLC is widely seen to meet the requirements of applications such as industrial Internet, smart grid, infrastructure protection, remote surgery and intelligent transportation systems, such as reliable remote operation with robots or coordination between vehicles. In addition, high-precision timing capabilities are a key 5G technology for special scenarios such as the Industrial Internet.
