Nissan recalls more than 320,000 SUVs in the U.S. for sudden hood opening

Nissan is recalling more than 300,000 Pathfinder SUVs in the U.S. because the vehicles’ hoods can suddenly open, blocking the driver’s view and increasing the risk of a crash. The recall is for 322,671 Pathfinder SUVs from 2013 to 2016, Nissan North America said on Wednesday.

A filing by Nissan with U.S. regulators shows that the company said the hood could pop open without warning because of dirt and dust buildup on the hood’s second latch that could cause it to stay open.

Nissan said it is working on a remedy and will issue interim notices starting Wednesday.
