Nio Automobile is in the process of self-developed chip layout. Bai Jian, Vice President of Hardware of Nio Automobile, posted on the social platform last month: “In the next one or two years, some key chips, including AD chips, will be Self-developed and mass-produced.” Now, more relevant news is coming.

According to a report from HiEV Garlic Granule Automotive Research Institute today, NIO’s first self-developed chip will be targeted at smart cockpits. People familiar with the matter said that NIO’s first self-developed chip uses a 7nm process technology and will be manufactured by Samsung. The R&D leader of its chip team comes from Huawei HiSilicon.

Compared with the currently popular autonomous driving chips, the competition in the field of smart cockpit chips is indeed relatively low-key. Many car manufacturers on the market choose Qualcomm cockpit chips, and self-developed cockpit chips are expected to make NIO’s car-machine interconnection more integrated, which is just right. Paired with the upcoming NIO phone.

It is worth mentioning that the much-anticipated NIO phone has recently been connected to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The model is N2301 and supports 100W fast charging. The applicant is NIO Mobile Technology Co., Ltd., and we have not yet found the ID photo.

Prior to this, NIO’s phone has passed the radio approval of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The model will support 2G, China Unicom 3G, CDMA, China Mobile + China Unicom 4G and 5G and other network standards, and supports UWB ultra-wideband technology, which means that NIO’s phone is expected to It can be used as a digital key for NIO cars or form short-distance linkage with other smart devices.

Prior to this, NIO founder Li Bin said that NIO planned to develop a new phone every year, like Apple. He revealed that NIO’s phone will be released and delivered in the third quarter of this year, and is expected to cost between 5,000 and 7,000 RMB.
