Deliveries of the new NIO ET5 have begun in China, as the company took to its website to announce. The cities this electric saloon is already making its way to are Shanghai, Suzhou, Jiaxing, Hefei, Ningbo and Guangzhou. This announcement regarding the deliveries was made available via the company’s app.
Although this vehicle became official in the month of December 2021 deliveries to those who made a purchase are just starting. This saloon is the cheapest option among the manufacturer’s list of vehicles, which are currently at a total of six models. The NIO ET5 is the company’s second saloon and the third model to make use of NIO’s NT 2.0 platform.

The electric saloon comes in three battery options, with the first packing a 75kWh battery, the second a 100kWh battery, and the third a 150kWh solid-state battery. Each battery option comes with its range with the 75kWh covering 550km, the 100kWh covering 700km, and the 150kWh solid-state covering 1,000km all on a single charge. The starting price of the NIO ET5 is 328,000 Yuan (~$46,200) and it comes in a total of nine colour options.
This electric saloon will compete for customers with the likes of the Tesla Model 3 and the BYD HAN. Already NIO is working on its expansion into Europe and the ET5 will be an appealing choice to EV enthusiasts and those looking out to enter the EV space. The number of NIO ET5 deliveries has not been specified by the company, but reports show that the number of pre-orders for the vehicle was over 200,000.
