Sad news as two died in a Nio electric car crash from the third floor of a car park. The two involved in this accident are a Nio staff and an employee from a partner company. Reports have it that the accident occurred during a test drive with the two deceased on board.

This sad event took place in Nio’s headquarters, Shanghai Innovative Park on Wednesday afternoon. Immediately, the company started investigating the event to know the root cause. From all conclusions, this wasn’t due to a malfunction of the vehicle.

The test drivers lost control of the vehicle, leading to the car smashing through windows and falling to the ground. The crash was fatal, as efforts to rescue the people in the car were futile. There are many questions regarding this crash that might test the Nio electric car integrity.

Across the world, there have been lots of electric vehicles crashes, and Nio adds to the list. We tend to wonder if the driving assistant (Nio Pilot) could kick in once it became evident that the driver lost control. Possibly this accident would have been avoided if the Nio Pilot system could take control in any case of an accident.
