Nintendo: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, sold for $ 70 is definitely worth it

Nintendo Switch platform game masterpiece “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” will be officially released on May 12, the U.S. version priced at $ 69.99 (current about RMb 480), this is the first time Nintendo’s standard version of the digital Switch game charges more than $ 59.99.

In response to the groundbreaking pricing, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser said that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Realm was able to justify its $70 price tag.

The Legend of Zelda

Doug Bowser told the Associated Press, “I think fans will find this an incredibly complete, immersive experience. The pricing reflects the type of experience fans can expect when they play this particular game.”

Following the announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Realm’s price, a Nintendo spokesperson said that $70 is not necessarily the new standard for first-party Switch games and said that the company will determine the suggested retail price of its products “on a case-by-case basis.

Doug Bowser said on the matter, “It’s not a price that we have to have for all of our games, it’s actually a fairly common pricing model, whether it’s here or in Europe or elsewhere in the world, and pricing may vary depending on the game itself.”

It’s worth noting that Sony started jacking up the price of first-party games to $70 when the PS5 launches in 2020, and Microsoft started jacking up to $70 for first-party Xbox Series X / S games this year.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Realm is available for HK$499 (currently about RMB 437) on the eshop in Hong Kong and supports any loss coupon purchase.
