Nintendo Switch 2 is likely to feature 8-inch LCD screen and up to 512GB of storage

Whistleblower Hate the Nate mentioned Nintendo’s next-generation Switch handheld in his latest podcast. Foreign media wccftech claimed that the whistleblower had “accurately provided information on a large number of video games.”

Hate the Nate mentioned more specs for the next-gen Switch. He said that this new handheld will be equipped with an 8-inch LCD screen, which is a significant increase in size compared to the 6.2-inch screen of the standard model. Compared with the model equipped with a 7-inch OLED screen, 8 inches “is a more appropriate size “.

In terms of storage, the information provided by the whistleblower is that the maximum capacity is 512GB, which is also a very significant improvement compared to the 32GB of the current standard version and 64GB of the OLED version.

As for the release time, the source said that the next-generation Switch will be officially released in 2024 “later” – between September and early October, and it may also launch a new 3D Super Mario game.

It was previously quoted foreign media VGC as reporting that the development kits for Nintendo’s next-generation game consoles had been delivered to major partners (major studios) for adaptation at the end of last month. It is said that the company (Nintendo) may release new hardware in the second half of 2024 to ensure sufficient inventory on launch day, thereby avoiding the kind of out-of-stock situation that occurred with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Previous revelations revealed that the next-generation Switch game will use a custom-made Nvidia Tegra T239 processor, and there will be a variety of CPU and GPU configurations with different clock frequencies, which is convenient for developers to choose the right configuration for them.

Nintendo’s next-generation Switch gaming console has a peak output power of 28.6W when plugged in and 11W in portable mode.

In terms of screen, the next-generation Switch development hardware is equipped with a 720P screen, supports 24gbps HDMI 2.1, does not support 120Hz refresh rate, but supports 10 bit HDR and 4K60 output.

In terms of storage, the next-generation Switch has 8GB of running memory, equipped with faster 64GB eMMC storage, and up to 256GB of storage that supports UHS-II. The read and write speeds are similar to the Samsung S22, with a read speed of 550mbps and a write the speed is 480mbps.

The custom Tegra T239 chip used in the next-gen Switch is fully backward compatible, and it also features an Ampere-based GPU that enables ray tracing and Nvidia’s DLSS.

In terms of battery life, it is reported that the next-generation Switch can provide 3-6 hours of battery life.
