According to the list published by the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple recently obtained a patent for a technology involving the Siri voice assistant, with the number US 20230112859 A1.
The patent, titled “Assistant that can recommend contacts,” aims to make Siri, the voice assistant on iPhone and iPad, smarter and better able to understand users’ call requests.
Apple said the current Siri can respond to the user’s call voice command, the actual scenario in which the user will use a nickname, or only use a small number of contact fields such as first name, last name, and similar pronunciation of different, will not be able to correctly identify the situation.
It is learned from the patent, Apple conceived an improved contact calling system that can handle the user’s natural language, through the association between name references and contact identifiers, more intelligent and more accurate to determine the contact.
