Google in order to enhance the transparency of the Android ecosystem and expand the user’s control over their data, announced in Google Play to enable a new policy: that requires developers to provide the option to delete data and accounts in the application or web side.
Google’s Android developer blog is as follows:
"The data security area of the Play Store already allows developers to highlight that their apps have data deletion options, but we know users want a simpler, more consistent approach.
This new policy will create a more intuitive experience, give users greater control over their data and accounts, and increase their trust in the Play Store."
Under the new policy, developers will be required to submit the option on December 7, 2023. Developers may also request an extension if they encounter special circumstances, no later than May 31, 2024.
