New features in Microsoft Word Preview, sharing documents to Kindle for reading

Microsoft has launched the “Send to Kindle from Word” feature today, after releasing a preview in February this year. Users can send documents to a Kindle device or app directly from within the Word app.

Users of Word for PC, Mac and the web can see the new ‘Send to Kindle’ option in the export options. When you click on it, a new window will pop up and you can choose “Like a Kindle book” or “Like a printed document”, depending on your needs.

The differences between the two are as follows:

  • Like a Kindle eBook: This option enables you to adjust the font size and page layout, and is best suited to simpler text formatting and reading on smaller screens. It also supports handwritten sticky notes using Kindle Scribe.
  • Like Print Document: This option keeps the page layout and formatting intact and is best suited to text with more complex formatting and elements, such as embedded tables. It also supports writing directly on the page using Kindle Scribe.

To experience this feature, there are also the following requirements:

Beta channel: running Version 2305 (Build 16403.20000) and higher

Current channel (Preview): running Version 2304 (Build 16327.20104) and higher
