Netgear launches its first Wi-Fi 7 router, the Nighthawk RS700, for $700

Netgear today released its first Wi-Fi 7 product – Nighthawk RS700 wireless router.

Wi-Fi 7 brings a host of improvements to the wireless experience, with faster speeds, lower latency, and more efficient channel utilization (especially with multiple clients). The standard also allows for multi-link operation, whereby clients are able to connect to APs over different frequency bands simultaneously. All Wi-Fi 7 routers must be tri-band (supporting 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz) to take full advantage of the new standard. Compared to their Wi-Fi 6E flagship Nighthawk, the RS700 has almost double the wireless throughput and comes with 10G WAN and LAN ports, the router is based on Broadcom’s Wi-Fi 7 platform.

The Nighthawk RS700 adopts a new design style, using a tower structure, which is not only good for heat dissipation, but also optimizes the location of the antenna to reduce interference.

The Nighthawk RS700 supports link aggregation on both the LAN and WAN, and the router also features a USB 3.0 port to connect a storage drive or printer.

The Nighthawk RS700 is available for pre-order today, priced at $700 (currently about 4802 CNY), and is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2023. The company claims that the router can support more than 200 simultaneous client devices and can cover a residential area of 3,500 square feet (approximately 325 square meters), enough to meet the needs of the vast majority of consumer households.
