Earlier this year, Netflix felt the scourge of losing its subscribers to the competition, something which hasn’t happened before. The film and series streaming company had to “take the bull by the horn” and address the situation. In other, to attract more subscribers, the company made an offering for an ad-supported tier for its customers.
We are now getting more information on this ad-supported tier for Netflix users, which will soon launch. According to our sources, this streaming option on Netflix will not offer the download button to users. This became clear after text in the app showed that this new option will not support downloads.

What does this mean for users? Simply put, if a user opts to pay less for the ad-supported tier, they will not be able to download or save movies for consumption later. The only option they have is to stream movies in their free time, with ads popping on their screens regularly.
We understand that Netflix will launch this plan sometime next year, possibly in the first quarter. Will this new streaming tier help save already existing subscribers whilst attracting more subscribers? Most likely it would, but, the users it will bring to the platform are those who do not mind the constant supply of ads while streaming.
