Since January 24, 2023, 0 points, all Chinese Blizzard games, including “World of Warcraft”, “Warcraft III: Remastered”, “Starcraft” series, “Hearthstone Legend”, “Heroes of the Storm”, “Overwatch” and “Diablo III” will cease operation.
Today, NetEase released a farewell letter to Blizzard’s national service players, saying that it appreciates the players’ company for 14 years. In the letter, NetEase said: “We always believe that those who meet will always meet again. We sincerely look forward to the day when all Blizzard players return to the national service.”
Dear Blizzard gamers.
On January 24, 2023, at 00:00, all operations of World of Warcraft, Hearthstone Legend, Overwatch, Diablo III, Warcraft III: Remastered, Heroes of the Storm, and StarCraft, which are distributed by NetEase, will be officially terminated in mainland China. At that time, Blizzard will close the Battle.net login and all game servers, as well as the client download.
After 14 years together, it’s hard to say goodbye. We have always known that for every player, including ourselves, all of our characters, accounts, equipment and friends lists are more than just a string of code, they are our youth, our blood, our life. Therefore, we will not forget our commitment to our players, and we will still do our best to serve Blizzard China players until the last moment, and walk the last mile together with them. We will announce the refund arrangements for Blizzard products after the service suspension, please pay attention to the “Blizzard Game Service Center” public number.
We are grateful for the 14 years we have been with our players on the Chinese service, but we are also honored.
We thank everyone for their tolerance of the servers, their understanding of customer service, their patience in the queues at the Gold Tournament, and even their willingness to put up with every commercial on the Blizzard Game Channel live stream.
We are even more honored that you have chosen to spend the most important years of your youth with us. Together, we fought against time in games, and fought our way through ordinary life, creating irreplaceable memories of our youth.
We will always remember fighting one powerful enemy after another with every player in the world of Azeroth; thinking, building and sparring with cards in the leisure of Hearthstone Tavern; becoming the heroes the world needs in the battles of Watchtower and Black Claw; and writing chapters and spilling blood in the Asylum, in the Time Hub and in the Koplo Starzone.
These fond memories will not fade away when the service is discontinued, they will shine like gems in the ordinary lives we will lead in the future. That is why we sincerely hope that this suspension is not the end of the line for players in the national service, but just a reluctant pause.
