According to Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb, EA plans to announce “Need for Speed 22” this week for release in December this year. Later, the Need for Speed official tweet was asked by players if the new work was announced this week, and the official tweet just responded with an “eye” emoji.
The previous financial report confirmed that “Need for Speed 22” will be released in the fourth quarter of 2022. The new work is set in the fictional version of Chicago, the USA, called Lake Shore City, with a realistic art style and a fusion of animation elements.
In February 2020, EA announced the transfer of Need for Speed development work from Ghost Games to Criterion Games, which created Burnout and two Need for Speed games – 2010’s Need for Speed 14: Heat Pursuit And 2012’s “Need for Speed 17: Most Wanted”, and also participated in the development of “Need for Speed 18: Rivals” in 2013.
Earlier this year, the Codemaster Dirt 5 development team was incorporated into Criterion Games to shape the future of Need for Speed.
