MSI is preparing to launch a new Z790 MAX series motherboard, which will support Intel’s 14th generation Raptor Lake Refresh series CPU, equipped with WiFI 7 and other functions.
In fact, MSI has demonstrated the MSI Z790 MAX series motherboards as early as at the Taipei International Computer Show, including four models: MEG ACE MAX, MPG Carbon MAX WIFI, MPG EDGE MAX WIFI and MAG Tomahawk MAX.
Wccftech has now released pictures of these motherboards, let’s take a look.

As expected, these motherboards will fully support Intel’s 14th-generation Raptor Lake Refresh desktop processors as well as faster DDR5 memory. The VRM will be adjusted to support higher TDP, and a better heat dissipation design will be adopted. For information about the 14th-generation CPU, please refer to previous reports.
MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX Motherboard

MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX is based on LGA 1700 platform, adopts 24-phase DUET Rail power supply design, including 105A SPS Dr.MOS power supply, has dual 8pin power connectors, four DDR5 DIMM slots (supports 7600 MT/s+ and 192 GB capacity ).
The board has 5 M.2 slots, 2 PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, and 1 Gen 4 x8 slot. While most of the I/O remains the same, the biggest upgrades to this new motherboard are WIFI 7 and 5.0 GbE LAN support.
MSI MPG Z790 Carbon Max WIFI Motherboard

Z790 CARBON MAX WIFI and Z790 EDGE MAX WIFI are very similar, Carbon is designed in stealth black, while Edge uses milky white as the theme.
Carbon Max is powered by 19-phase direct-out 105A SPS Dr.MOS, while EDGE Max is powered by 16-phase and 90A SPS Dr.MOS.
Carbon Max motherboards support up to DDR5-7600+ memory, while Edge supports DDR5-7200+ memory. Both motherboards are WIFI 7 capable, and the Carbon also has an onboard 5 GbE LAN port, while the Edge supports 2.5 GbE.
MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk MAX WIFI Motherboard

It is the cheapest of these motherboards. This motherboard uses a 16-phase VRM design, has a 90A SPS Dr.MOS power supply, supports DDR5-7200+ memory and WIFI 7, has a 2.5 GbE LAN port, and looks unique.
It also offers plenty of common ports, such as four M.2 slots with Shield Frozr technology, eight SATA III ports, two full-length PCIe slots, and plenty of I/O, including two Type-C ports.
