MSI showed off its first notebook equipped with Intel’s 14th generation Meteor Lake processor at Computex 2023, according to a report by foreign tech media Notebookcheck.
Intel did not have a separate booth at Computex 2023, though it invited some media representatives to privately showcase the new consumer laptop platform.
At the MSI booth, a Prestige 16 EVO / Studio laptop with Intel’s 14th generation Meteor Lake processors was on display, and the “Genuine Intel (R) 0000” mark (indicating the chip’s technology mode) could be seen in the Task Manager.
The main technology for the versatile processing unit (VPU) available in Meteor Lake comes from Movidius, which Intel acquired in 2016. By introducing the VPU, Intel can accelerate the processing of tasks related to AI algorithms and machine learning models.
The main tasks of the VPU in Meteor Lake include real-time processing of photos and videos, filtering applications, auto-blurring backgrounds, scaling applications, replacing images, and more, in addition to the VPU’s ability to recognize user eye movements and gestures in real-time.
