MSI will launch a new expansion card at Computex Taipei 2023, which connects to the motherboard via a slot.
The expansion card comes with 2 DP ports and 2 USB-C ports, with the USB-C1 port supporting 100W PD fast charging and the USB4 transfer protocol, which can transfer 40Gb of data per second.
With this expansion card, the PC host will be able to support 100W PD fast charging for other devices such as phones, tablets and laptops, and can connect to other devices such as phones, hard drives, etc. via a C to C cable that supports data transfer.
The expansion card comes with a USB-C port that supports the USB4 protocol, and it is expected that the USB-C port of the display can also be connected via a Thunderbolt / USB4 cable to light up the screen (USB4 protocol supports fast charging, transferring data and video signals).
Another USB-C2 interface also supports 40Gbps data transfer speed, but the fast charging power is reduced to 27W, which can provide fast charging service for some devices with little power demand.
