Mozilla, the developer of Firefox, has invested $30 million (currently about 206 million CNY) in a startup called Mozilla.ai to build a trusted, independent and open source AI ecosystem through community-driven efforts.

Mozilla.ai’s vision is to help developers make it easier to develop trustworthy AI products. The company’s first goal is to provide safer, more transparent tools for generative AI like ChatGPT.

The company’s managing director is Moez Draief, an academic at Imperial College, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a well known scientist within the AI industry.

Initially, Karim Lakhani of Harvard University, Navrina Singh of Credo and Mark Surman of Mozilla will serve on the board.
