Mozilla Firefox 106.0.1 Released, Fixing Crash Issues on AMD Zen Processors

A new version of the Mozilla Firefox browser is now available for download, though this changelog includes only one fix. version 106.0.1 is now available on all supported desktop platforms and mainly addresses the crashing issues experienced by users with AMD Zen 1 CPUs, as explained by Mozilla in the changelog.

This is just the first minor modification to Firefox 106, which was released a few days ago with a large number of new features. One of them is specifically for Windows users, who can now pin private browsing windows to the taskbar, a mode that also comes with a nicer user interface, especially to “increase the sense of privacy”, as Mozilla itself explains.

In addition, Firefox now offers text-in-image recognition for macOS users. Text-in-image recognition allows users of macOS 10.15 and above to extract text from selected images (such as memos or screenshots). The extracted text is copied to the clipboard for sharing, storage or searching – without the need to manually re-type everything. This feature is compatible with the built-in macOS screen reader “VoiceOver”.

In addition to many other smaller improvements, Firefox 106 includes support for the new Colorways, as well as Firefox View, a feature that makes it possible to retrieve previously viewed content with a single click.

In addition to the new features, Firefox is introducing 18 new art-style interface colorways, which can now be experienced in “Colorways” mode accessible through Firefox; each new color has a custom graphic and text description that explains its deeper meaning. The collection will be available until January 16.
