Montage Technology announced today that the PCIe 5.0 / CXL 2.0 Retimer chip has successfully achieved mass production. The chip is an upgrade of Montage’s existing PCIe 4.0 Retimer products.
Montage Technology said that its PCIe 5.0 / CXL 2.0 Retimer chip uses signal conditioning technology to improve signal integrity and increase the effective transmission distance of high-speed signals. The chip conforms to the relevant technical specifications of the PCI-SIG and CXL industry organizations, adopts the industry’s mainstream packaging, and has a transmission rate of 32 GT/s. It is the first in the industry to support ultra-low transmission delays below 5 ns.
According to reports, the chip supports complex system topologies such as SRIS and Retimer cascading and is a solution to PCIe/CXL signal integrity challenges in next-generation servers, enterprise storage, and AI acceleration systems. Montage Technology has cooperated with major partners in the fields of CPU, switch chip, solid-state drive, GPU and network card to complete the interoperability test.
Montage Technology also revealed that the company is developing a PCIe 6.0 Retimer chip.
