Ming-Chi Kuo today released a market forecast newsletter, that Apple next year’s launch of the new Apple Watch will not use Micro LED screen material, overall there is no significant innovation change.
In his missive, Kuo argues that the Apple Watch with a Micro LED screen will have to wait until 2025, but doesn’t rule out the possibility of 2026.
Ming-Chi Kuo also estimated the shipments of Apple Watch this year, that only 36-38 million units, down 15% year-on-year.
The most anticipated feature of the new Apple Watch is non-invasive glucose monitoring, but Kuo made it very clear in his missive that it won’t be commercially available in 2024, and probably won’t be available in 2025.
Kuo sees the Apple Watch as a classic example of a product that succeeded through repositioning, and based on current shipment trends, could face the need for repositioning if shipments decline year-over-year again next year.
Kuo believes that by integrating the Vision Pro headset and the Apple Watch, an unprecedented innovation management experience will be created that will fuel shipments of both products.
