Tianfeng Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in his latest blog post on Medium that Apple investors do not have much confidence that “AR/MR headsets will become the next consumer electronics product”. To convince and boost its confidence, the upcoming WWDC 2023 developer conference is the “last hope”.

Ming-Chi Kuo said that the current investors’ confidence in AR/MR headsets is not very strong, and listed the performance of other companies’ products. The attached content is as follows:
Sony has cut production plans for the PSVR2 headset
Cumulative shipments of Meta's Quest Pro are just 300,000 units
Shipments of Pico, the largest domestic headset brand, are 40% lower than expected in 2022.
Ming-Chi Kuo’s conclusions are as follows:
There isn't enough evidence yet to suggest that headsets will be the next big thing in consumer electronics in the foreseeable future.
Apple's event may be the last hope of convincing investors that AR/MR headsets have a chance as the next consumer electronics star.
The current market consensus may currently overestimate the contribution of AR/VR headsets to key component suppliers in the next few years, especially related to optics.
