Microsoft is developing a new feature that allows Xbox users to automatically upload their screenshots and video clips to the OneDrive cloud storage service. Currently, this feature has been opened in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead test groups of Xbox Insider, and users can try it out and upload their existing screenshots and video clips to OneDrive in batches.
Microsoft also provides a wizard to help users set OneDrive synchronization options, including whether to upload existing screenshots and video clips. Users can selectively upload the content they want without having to upload it all. Microsoft reminds users that if there is a large amount of content to upload, the process may take several days and will run in the background.
After the automatic upload function is turned on, the screenshots and video clips of the user on the Xbox will be saved in the picture folder and video folder of OneDrive, and the user can view it through the OneDrive application on the web, PC, Mac or mobile.
However, Microsoft hasn’t improved the video editing process on Xbox. Even if the user has a fast internet connection, the video clip still takes a long time to upload. Currently during testing, 4K resolution video clips cannot be automatically uploaded to OneDrive, but Microsoft says it will enable this feature in the future.
Microsoft typically tests new Xbox features months in advance before rolling them out to all users. Therefore, it is expected that this OneDrive upload feature will be officially launched in the next few months.
