Microsoft today released a new Windows 11 Canary preview version 25987. This version contains some small new features and some new known issues.

[Universal]
- During the setup (OOBE) process, when you need to connect to the network but do not have a Wi-Fi driver, you will see an “Install Driver” button, click it to install the driver you downloaded before. This change can be seen using the ISO files for Build 25977 and later available [here].
- Starting with this version, the Windows Maps and Movies and TV apps will no longer automatically install after a clean installation of the operating system. The Windows Maps and Movies & TV apps will not be removed in the Canary Channel Insider upgrade and will still be available and updated through the Microsoft Store.
[Set Up]
- We’ve redesigned the Delivery Optimization settings page under Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Delivery Optimization to align with Windows 11 design principles.
[File Explorer]
- Viewing and editing PNG file metadata is now supported. For example, you can set a star rating, edit the description or add keywords in the properties.
Fixes for known issues
- Fixed a crash in File Explorer when using a non-English display language in Windows Sandbox.
Known issues
- [Reminder] Some popular games may not run properly in the latest Insider preview builds on the Canary Channel. Please submit any issues you encounter while playing the game on these versions in the Feedback Hub.
- [NEW] There are some blank options on the Personalization and Privacy & Security settings pages that will cause the settings to crash if clicked on.
- [NEW] We are investigating an issue that reports getting stuck on the startup icon when trying to reboot into Safe Mode.
