Microsoft Win11 tests implantation of website recommendations in Start menu

0

Microsoft has removed dynamic tiles and adjusted the overall layout in Win11, bringing a more modern Start menu experience. However, the recently released Win11 preview version brought controversial content – the implantation of website recommendations in the Start menu.

Win11 will now show recommended websites after you click on the Start menu. This is certainly Microsoft’s attempt to provide user-friendly recommendations for Win11, but not everyone agrees with this advertising behavior of Microsoft. So Microsoft is providing additional control for users to decide whether to implant these website recommendations in the Start menu.

Microsoft says

"We've been working hard to add more valuable content to the recommendations section of the Start menu and are excited to introduce a new type of content: websites.

In the first phase, we'll help you easily find sites you care about by suggesting common sites based on your region or browsing history. You can also take control by right-clicking on a website and choosing to remove it individually or stop showing all recommended sites altogether.

This feature is currently only available to some Windows Insider members, so if you have received this feature, you are welcome to give feedback on the problems you encountered and provide valuable suggestions."
