Microsoft Windows 11 Canary 25931 Preview released

Microsoft today released the Windows 11 preview update on the Canary channel, version number 25931, which includes some new features from the recent development channel version, as well as some other new features, improvements, and bug fixes.

This update also has a small improvement: allowing users to uninstall more pre-installed applications. These apps come with the system, and some users may not need them. Users can right-click on these apps and select Uninstall, which saves some space and makes the Start menu cleaner.

According to the release notes for build 25931, Windows 11 now allows uninstallation of the Photos app, People app, and Remote Desktop client. However, only the Photos app is visible in the Start menu, and the People app and Remote Desktop client need to be uninstalled in the Settings app. Users can press the Win + I keys (or other methods to open the settings), go to Apps > Installed Apps, click the three-dot button next to the program you want to delete, and then click Uninstall.

With the release of build 25931, People, Photos, and Remote Desktop join the list of preinstalled apps that can be easily uninstalled. Previously, Microsoft has allowed users to remove the camera app and Cortana without using unconventional methods such as winget or third-party uninstallers.

The latest Windows 11 Canary release also includes improvements to the details pane in File Explorer, mouse and keyboard synchronization that makes Windows theme colors compatible with dynamic lighting, new emoji, changes to the DC locator, and more. Check out the official Microsoft blog here.
