Microsoft Windows 11 Beta preview version 226×1.2199 released

Microsoft pushed the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.2199 and 22631.2199 updates to the Beta channel.

The version number is 22631.2199, and new features are enabled by default, and 22621.2199, new features are turned off by default.

By integrating the lib archive open source project, this update natively supports various compression formats such as tar, tar.gz, tar.bz2, tar.zst, tar.xz, tgz, tbz2, tzst, txz, rar, 7z, etc. Promise at the Microsoft Developers Conference on March 24.

However, it should be noted that this version currently does not support decompression of compressed files with passwords.

Also, this version update introduces a new snipping tool (version 11.2306.43.0 and higher). The update introduces new buttons to edit screenshots in Paint and screen recordings in Clipchamp, Microsoft’s built-in video editor.

After this update, files that cannot provide detailed thumbnail previews in the start menu will no longer display blank preview areas.

The Narrator tool is improved, the default Detail Level is changed from 2 to 3, and the Instant Context Name and Type will be announced. This release also adds a Traditional Chinese dictionary, and users are no longer limited when entering Traditional Chinese characters using Narrator.

  • Fixed an issue where trying to end a task would not work when multiple application windows were open.
  • Fixed an issue where using “End Task” on some applications would cause other unrelated applications to close.

  • Fixed an issue where Narrator would incorrectly announce a combo box as read-only even though the user could actually select a different value from the combo box list item.
  • Fixed an issue where the Narrator would not show the checked and unchecked states of radio buttons, but would instead show the checked state of each item.
  • Fixed an issue where using the arrow keys to navigate the date/time picker would announce older information.
  • Fixed an issue where the Narrator would incorrectly read the contents of the previous and current cell when using the left and right arrow keys to navigate in a table.
  • Fixed an issue where Narrator would incorrectly read old window titles even when navigating to internal controls.
  • Fixed an issue where VoiceOver would read the entire paragraph when invoking the up arrow in an online Word document.
  • Fixed an issue where the Narrator would incorrectly pronounce the last word of the previous paragraph when a new paragraph began with punctuation.
  • Fixed an issue where VoiceOver would not display deleted characters when backspace was used in certain text fields on web pages.
  • Fixed an issue in Narrator where when entering any number in the CVV edit field, Narrator should only display “Hidden” instead of “CVV Edit, Hidden New Row Selected”.
  • Fixed an issue where Narrator was unable to detect different headings on some web pages when navigating with the H key in scan mode.
  • Fixed Narrator scan mode arrow navigation skipping the first item in a container.
  • Fixed an issue where Narrator would skip the first item after navigating through landmarks using the D key in scan mode.
  • Fixed an issue where, when using the up and down arrow keys in scan mode, the narrator’s focus would not move past the first checkbox if there was a list of checkboxes.
  • Fixed an issue where Narrator was unable to activate the combo box when navigating with the up and down arrows and activating the combo box with Enter/Space while in scan mode.Fixed an issue where Narrator would collapse combo boxes when navigating with the up and down arrows in scan mode.
  • Fixed an issue where navigation commands would not work as expected in dialogues when entering the dialogue for the second time.
  • Fixed an issue where the Find feature would not work properly when using the Narrator key + Ctrl + F key combination on a web page.

  • This update improves the reliability of the Search application.
  • This update resolves an issue that affects print jobs sent to virtual print queues. They will fail without errors.
  • This update addresses an issue affecting the size of the search box. In tablet posture mode on Microsoft Surface Pro and Surface Book devices, the size of the search box is reduced.
  • This update resolves an issue affecting the TAB key. Browsing search results using this key requires additional action.
  • This update resolves an issue that affects the Group Policy service. It does not wait for the network to be available for 30 seconds (the default wait time). Therefore, Group Policy cannot be processed correctly.

After updating to this build, Check for Updates does not appear under Settings > Windows Update as expected. To manually check for updates, you can open a Windows Terminal (or the Run dialog) and enter the USOClient StartInteractiveScan command, which will perform the same function as clicking the “Check for Updates” button in Windows Update. Note that running this command will not display any output. To confirm that the operation was successful, you can run this command while opening the Windows Update settings page. You should see the device checking for updates.

We are fixing an issue that caused explorer.exe to crash on the login screen when trying to enter Safe Mode.

[File Explorer]

  • In some cases, the context menu background in File Explorer may appear transparent.
  • Investigate an issue where icons on the desktop may all become blank. If this happens, right-clicking and refreshing the desktop will bypass the issue.
