Recently, Microsoft began to provide two separate Windows 11 preview updates to beta channel for staggered release. Today, the company released new 22621.885 and 22623.885 (KB5020054) updates, with Build 22623.885 turning on new features by default and Build 22621.885 turning off new features by default.

New in Build 22623.885
Access Windows Studio Effects from Quick Settings

For devices that support Neural Processing Units (NPUs), Windows Studio effects can now be accessed directly from the taskbar’s quick settings. This makes enabling and configuring camera effects (background blur, eye contact and auto-framing) and audio effects (voice focus) quick and easy. If desired, you can still access these effects in the settings page.

Microsoft is asking Windows Insiders to submit feedback in the Feedback Center (WIN + F) under Power and Battery > Energy Suggestions.

Energy Suggestions

We are starting to roll out energy suggestions under Settings > System > Power and Battery > Energy Suggestions. Review and apply these suggestions to improve the energy efficiency of your PC and reduce your carbon footprint.

[We’re starting to roll out this feature, so it’s not available to everyone yet because we plan to monitor feedback and see how it works before we push it out to everyone.]

Fixed an issue with some chat apps (supported) not flashing new messages or opening previews when hovering in the system tray.

Fixed an issue that caused the volume icon in the system tray to incorrectly display as muted.

Fixed an issue where calling the context menu for an item in the system tray may not put the context menu in the foreground, it would get stuck behind the taskbar.

Some work has been done to help improve the performance of deleting files through File Explorer (when emptying the Recycle Bin or using Shift + Delete) if a large number of files are deleted at once.
