Microsoft Windows 11/10 Linux subsystem WSL 1.1.0 pre-release version open for download

Microsoft today put up a pre-release version of WSL 1.1.0 on GitHub, which can now be manually downloaded and updated to the latest version of the Linux subsystem for Windows 11/10.

Microsoft does not list specific changelogs for version 1.1.0

In the most recent release, Microsoft WSL was upgraded to stable kernel version v5.15.79.1, and several bug fixes were made.

WSL allows developers to run GNU/Linux environments directly on Windows. With WSL, developers can install Linux distributions (e.g. Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, Kali, Debian, Arch Linux, etc.) and use Linux applications, utilities, and Bash command-line tools directly on Windows without any modifications and without the consumption of traditional virtual machines or dual-boot setups.
