Microsoft will provide remedies to the EU to avoid the $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard plans to fizzle

Reuters quoted sources as saying that Microsoft may provide remedies to the European Union in the next few weeks to avoid the EU’s formal opposition to the company’s $ 69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, but the report did not give a report. The specific content of Microsoft’s proposal.

It was previously reported that Microsoft has provided Sony with a 10-year “Call of Duty” licensing agreement to ensure that the game will remain on the PlayStation platform, which is more sincere than the previous three-year contract.

Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard is currently under regulatory scrutiny, including investigations by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, the U.K. CMA and the European Commission. Several regulators have recently approved the deal, such as Serbia, Saudi Arabia and Brazil.

The European Commission is currently scheduled to make a final decision in early April 2023, but if Microsoft’s “remedial measures” are accepted, it may make a decision one step earlier.

In fact, a recent report suggested that the FTC may consider filing a lawsuit to block the takeover. In response, a Microsoft spokesperson said: “As we have said before, we are prepared to address the concerns of regulators, including the FTC and Sony, to ensure that the transaction closes with confidence. We will remain in the market after the transaction closes. Behind Sony and Tencent, the partnership between Activision and Xbox will benefit gamers and developers and make the industry more competitive.”
