Microsoft has updated the PowerPoint Accessibility ribbon for Windows and macOS platforms today in anticipation of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), based on feedback from users over the past 18 months.
The following improvements to the new PowerPoint version:
- After users open Alt Text Pane and Reading Order Pane, the accessibility ribbon will appear.
- In the ribbon, the “Inspect without Color” button opens to help colour-blind people read relevant content.
- The ribbon now enables you to mark images included in a presentation to help visually impaired people understand the information in the image.
- The ribbon also introduces new “Insert Header Row” and “Insert Header Column” commands, which speed up adding a header row or column to a table in one simple step.
These accessibility features are available to users upgrading to version 2304 – Build 16327.10000 and later on Windows platforms and version 16.72 – Build 23040900 and later on macOS platforms.
