Microsoft plans to end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, and the U.S. Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) recently launched a lawsuit against Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. A petition calling on the company to reconsider the move.
The U.S. Public Interest Research Organization believes that of the 1 billion devices currently using Windows 10, more than 400 million devices do not meet the upgrade requirements for Windows 11.

Lucas Rockett Gutterman, campaign director of the American Public Interest Research Organization, said that Microsoft has expanded support for old operating systems in the past. Global Windows operating system data for October 2023 disclosed by StatCounter showed that Windows 10 has the largest market share, accounting for approximately 70.88% of desktop computers. Windows 11 is the second most popular version with a market share of 24.89%. Additionally, Windows 7 still holds about 2.9% of the market. Windows 8.1 has about 0.57% of the market, Windows 8 has about 0.34%, and Windows XP has about 0.3%.
