Microsoft Says Cloud Games Won’t Replace Game Consoles: Just Great Alternatives

Microsoft is heavily promoting cloud gaming, but the company doesn’t expect cloud gaming to replace traditional game consoles. In an interview, Pav Bhardwaj, senior global product manager for Xbox Game Pass, said game consoles will continue to play a role in lifestyle entertainment.

Pav Bhardwaj said, “Some people like to play games on consoles and have a console in their living room where they can download games and get that experience.” “I like consoles, and cloud gaming is just another option, another way for players to play games.” Bhardwaj continues, “It’s not that one will hurt the other, it’s more of an upward trend, and it’s a great place to offer different opportunities. the PC still exists, and new forms will emerge in the future.”

Overall, Bhardwaj believes that cloud gaming will be a “great alternative” to gaming consoles, rather than a replacement for them.

There are many reasons why people don’t want to buy a traditional gaming console, and Microsoft strives to offer cloud gaming as an alternative to bring the Xbox experience to any device that people already own. In addition, cloud gaming helps get Xbox into different parts of the world, especially in areas where traditional consoles aren’t as popular as smartphones or tablets.

Bhardwaj said, “There are many reasons why people don’t buy dedicated hardware, such as they can’t afford the high price, they can’t afford the money, they’re too busy to play games, or they already own devices on other platforms. We think it has to do with accessibility and choice.”
