Microsoft moves forward with Control Panel migration Windows 11 settings can now fix Win32 applications

In the recently released Windows 11 preview update for Beta and Dev channel users, Microsoft continues to migrate features from the Control Panel to the Settings app. It now allows users to uninstall more applications, including Win32 software, from the Settings app, an option previously limited to the Control Panel.

The Settings app can now manage apps that were previously limited to the Control Panel,” Microsoft said. This includes uninstalling apps that have internal dependencies (such as Steam and the game apps that run on Steam), fixing and tweaking Win32 apps.

For now, however, the migration is not complete, so the Control Panel will continue to coexist with the Settings app in Windows 11 for the foreseeable future. But there is no doubt that when the migration is complete, the Control Panel will be out of the Windows history books.
