Microsoft will shut down Microsoft Bookings, one of its mobile apps for iOS and Android platforms, on July 15, according to a notice from the Microsoft 365 Management Center.
This means that after this date, users who have installed and used Microsoft Bookings will no longer be able to use the app, which was removed from Apple’s iOS App Store and Google Play Store in February 2023.
Microsoft Bookings is a service released by Microsoft in July 2016 and officially made available to all Office 365 (now known as Microsoft 365) Business Premium subscribers in 2017.Microsoft Bookings enables business owners to automate the scheduling of customer appointments by allowing customers to select specific dates or appointments through a web-based form to select a specific date or time, or even specify a specific employee they want to contact.
Microsoft didn’t give a specific reason for shutting down the Microsoft Bookings mobile app, most likely because the apps weren’t used by many people, so the company decided to phase them out. In its message, Microsoft said that mobile customers can still access the web-based Microsoft Bookings service on their browsers.
In addition, Microsoft also plans to phase out the current Windows Mail and Calendar applications in favor of the recently launched new Outlook application for Microsoft 365 services. A few days ago it was revealed that the Mail and Calendar applications would be replaced by the new Outlook starting in September 2024. However, due to feedback from Microsoft 365 users, Microsoft has adjusted its retirement plans for Mail and Calendar and is currently “re-evaluating the timing and implementation of this change.
