It’s been a busy month for Microsoft’s Bing Chat, as the company opened up a preview of the artificial intelligence-powered chatbot to everyone earlier this month. More recently, the company has allowed users to use its features without a Microsoft account, though to limit user interaction and engagement with the tool to five chats per session. Therefore, users need to log into the chatbot with a Microsoft account to use all its functions.
Just recently, Microsoft launched another major update for Bing Chat, designed to enhance user interaction and engagement. Mikhail Parakhin, CEO of Microsoft’s advertising and web services division, announced on his Twitter account that the company has increased the character limit for Bing Chat from 2,000 to 4,000 characters, and users can now make longer queries at once.
When Bing Chat first launched, some users reported hallucinations and incorrect answers from the tool. Microsoft reacted quickly, taking some steps to weaken the experience with the tool, one of which was to limit Bing Chat to 2,000 characters. The move has drawn mixed reactions, with some users reporting improvements and satisfaction with the overall experience on the one hand, and less satisfaction from technical users who intend to generate in-depth and long-form content, on the other. This meant they needed to segment their queries, and some users even came up with crude ways to increase Bing Chat’s word limit to 25,000 characters. While this update is only a small bump, it’s a step in the right direction.
It is noticed that Microsoft has already started to roll out one of the most anticipated features of Bing Chat, which is to provide users with chat saving support.
