The Quest 3 headset was released on September 28, with new Pancake lenses, the body is thinner and lighter; equipped with a new headband, the top of the band is divided into two, in the user’s head can be better-dispersed weight and the overall weight of 515 grams.
The Quest 3 is powered by a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip with 8GB of built-in memory, and Meta says it has twice the graphics performance of the Quest 2, and is even better than the Quest Pro, which ran the previous-generation XR2+ chip.
The headset has a monocular resolution of 2064×2208, up from the Quest 2’s 1832×1920, a 90Hz/120Hz refresh rate, a 110-degree horizontal field-of-view, a 96-degree vertical field-of-view, and about 2-3 hours of battery life.
The most important enhancements to the Quest 3 are a full-colour camera that supports colour perspective; a handle that eliminates the locator ring in favour of infrared sensors for locating the device, which provides better tactile feedback; and support for hand tracking, which allows you to operate without relying on the handle.
