Mercedes-Benz smart #1 pre-orders exceed 10,000 units in 24 hours

On April 25, Mercedes-Benz and Geely unveiled the smart # 1 electric car. It was introduced in two variants, such as Pro+ and Premium, with a pre-sale price of 190,000 Yuan (~$28,930) and 230,000 Yuan (~$35,000), respectively. Today, the company released an official confirmation that the reservation orders for the smart #1 exceeded 10,000 units in 24 hours.

As it is known, Mercedes-Benz is responsible for the design of the smart #1, whereas Geely has handled its production. The electric car will be produced from the latter’s vast SEA architecture. The first batch of smart #1 will be delivered in December this year.

Mercedes-Benz smart #1 specifications

The Mercedes-Benz smart #1 car is equipped with a 272 PS electric motor rated at 272 PS and 343 Nm of torque. The car can go from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 6.7 seconds. It is capable at reaching a top speed of 180 km per hour.

The electric car is equipped with a 66-kWh lithium-nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) battery. The Pro+ variant offers a 535km range. The Premium model’s powertrain features silicon carbide (SiC) technology, because of which it delivers a higher range of 560km.

Smart #1 supports AC charging. It takes around 7.5 hours of charging to go from 10 percent to 80 percent. It takes only 30 minutes to charge through 150 kW DC charging.

The Pro+ comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 5-speaker surround sound system, to name a few. On the other hand, the Premium variant has 19-inch wheels, a 10-inch head-up screen, a 13-speaker system by Beats, and matrix LED headlamps. What’s mentioned above is the pre-sale price of smart #1. Its final price will be confirmed in June.
