Today, Mercedes-Benz released its global sales data for the first quarter. Mercedes-Benz said sales rose slightly in the first quarter of the year, buoyed by sales of electric vehicles and premium vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz’s total global sales in the first quarter were 503,500 vehicles, an increase of 3% year-on-year, of which pure electric sales were 51,600 vehicles, an increase of 89% year-on-year, and a penetration rate of 10.25%. Among them, EQB sales increased by 189%, EQA sales increased by 64%, and EQS SUV sales reached 5,500 units.
By market, the European market is still the main thrust of Mercedes-Benz, with an increase of 8% year-on-year to 163,900 vehicles; the North American market increased by 1% to 75,100 vehicles.
In the Chinese market, Mercedes-Benz’s total sales in the first quarter were 191,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 3%. The specific pure electric sales volume has not been announced, but Mercedes-Benz said that the pure electric sales in the Chinese market in the first quarter increased by 109% year-on-year. Mercedes-Benz said that the EQS SUV and the domestically produced EQE SUV will be launched in China in the second quarter.

In 2022, Mercedes-Benz’s cumulative turnover will be 150 billion euros (currently about 1.13 trillion CNY), a year-on-year increase of 16%, and its net profit will be 14.8 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 34%. In terms of passenger cars, the total global sales of Mercedes-Benz in 2022 will be 2.04 million, a year-on-year increase of 5%. In terms of new energy vehicles that are more concerned by the outside world, Mercedes-Benz will sell 149,000 pure electric vehicles in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 67%.
