According to foreign media insideevs, Mercedes-Benz CEO Kang Linsong said in an interview that Mercedes-Benz will not follow Tesla’s pricing strategy adjusted according to the market. Floating price mechanism.
In any market, there is always a focus on operations, demand and supply. But drastic moves are usually not the right direction for a brand like Mercedes-Benz.
Kang Linsong also said that for consumers, the constantly adjusted selling price will reduce consumers’ psychological expectations of brand value and vehicle value preservation rate. For the Mercedes-Benz brand, providing consumers with new cars that are more durable and have more residual value is the primary goal in the future.
At the same time, Kang Linsong also admitted that the Chinese market is now “a little dull.” He also said that in order to maintain stability in pricing, it is necessary to maintain flexibility in “other aspects”: adjusting the production ratio of pure electric models and gasoline models according to market demand and changes.

In terms of electrification, Kang Linsong claimed that Mercedes-Benz is investing billions or even tens of billions of dollars for this, and it needs to pay a huge price to deal with it. “It’s not just electrification, Mercedes responds to everything else that’s happening in the automotive industry. The goal is clear, transport has to be zero-emissions, there are no ifs or buts.”
According to previous reports, Mercedes-Benz announced in early July that North American car owners will be able to use Tesla super electric piles to charge their Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles starting in 2024. In addition, starting in 2025, Mercedes-Benz will be the first German automaker to directly adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) in new models.
Regarding Mercedes-Benz’s access to NACS, Kang Linsong said that this was not an easy decision, because after careful analysis, Mercedes-Benz believes that the mid-to-long-term solution will be NACS rather than CCS, a joint charging system approved by the US government.
