Today, Counterpoint Research released a report saying that in the past eight quarters, MediaTek has maintained the leading position in the global and Chinese smartphone chip market share, and its share in the global mobile phone chip market has increased from the third in 2020. The quarter’s 33% climbed to 39% in the second quarter of 2022.
The report pointed out that MediaTek’s average selling price of smartphone chips has maintained an upward trend in the past two years, benefiting from the application of advanced manufacturing processes in 5G mobile phone chips and flagship chips.

Counterpoint Research said that in the second quarter of 2022, in the Chinese smartphone SoC market, MediaTek led the market with a market share of 42%, followed by Qualcomm. MediaTek’s market share more than doubled compared to the second quarter of 2020. In the past three years, MediaTek’s share in leading smartphone manufacturers including OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi has grown.

In the first half of 2022, MediaTek’s share of China’s high-end Android smartphone market, with wholesale prices above $500, has grown significantly, analysts said. In addition, MediaTek plans to launch a new generation of flagship chips in the fourth quarter of 2022 to continue its growth momentum in the high-end mobile phone market.
