The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will compete with the new MediaTek Dimensity 9000+. This processor is the latest and fastest flagship chip from MediaTek. Its predecessor came with a lot of features that are in close competition with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Now, with some upgrades and enhancements, the new MediaTek processor will compete for dominance in the flagship smartphone market.
MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ specifications
Performance areas such as speed, gaming, and imagery got some upgrades from the Dimensity 9000 processor. The graphics processor on this chip (Arm Mali-G710 MC10) is MediaTek’s fastest GPU. The frame rate on devices that’ll use the processor will be smoother thanks to the new HyperEngine. Connectivity also receives some upgrades in form of integration with the 3GPP Release-16 smartphone modem.
- Processing Units: Improvements to its Cortex-X2 to a 3.2GHz frequency.
- Modem cellular connectivity: 3CC carrier aggregation with a download speed of up to 7Gbps and a 2.5Gbps upload speed.
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity: Wi-Fi antenna 2T2R, Wi-Fi 6E 2×2 (BW160), Bluetooth 5.3.
- Camera and video abilities: MediaTek Imagiq 790 with powerful 9Gpixel ISP, supports up to 320MP smartphone sensor. AI-noise reduction for 4K video recording and photo capture with 2X lossless zoom.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ will support WDHD+ displays with a 144Hz refresh rate or 180Hz at FHD. There will be a 5% and more than 10% improvement in CPU and GPU performance, respectively. This processor will be available for mobile devices from the third quarter of 2022.
