MediaTek Dimensity 1050 announced as the company’s first mm-Wave processor

MediaTek Dimensity 1050 is kicking up 5G connection speed for mid-range devices. With the world switching to 5G enabled technology and appliances, it is only wise that SoC manufacturers do the same. Manning up to the processing power and connection speed needs of the world, MediaTek has managed to grow its business to become one of the world’s most used mobile processors. The Dimensity 1050 processor is here to offer a faster 5G connection to more devices at an affordable price.

The fastest 5G today is the mmWave, its connection speed measures in gigabytes. To achieve this, the mmWave uses a spectrum of 6GHz and above, but it has limitations. There are many factors to take into consideration when looking at the wireless connection abilities, and one hindrance to mmWave is its limited range. The frequency on the chips using the mmWave has a range of 30-300GHz, at this range, it has poor penetration to buildings and can’t be accessed in certain areas.

MediaTek Dimensity 1050

So as not to leave users of the MediaTek Dimensity 1050 with an unstable internet connection, the processor also supports sub-6GHz spectrums. In areas where the processor can’t access mmWave 5G, it can easily switch to a lower 5G connection, hence keeping its user online at all times. Not only does this processor support the fastest 5G connection, but it also supports one of the fastest Wi-Fi connections available. The Wi-Fi 6E connection assures its users of a stable network while playing games, in a video conference meeting, etc.

Asides from its fast connection speeds, this processor will also support a refresh rate of 144Hz on a vibrant display. The MediaTek Dimensity 1050 is an 8-core, 64-bit CPU processor that uses two Arm Cortex-A78 CPUs with frequencies up to 2.5GHz. This will help games and basic processes on a smartphone that use the chip run smoothly. The memory type on this processor is the LPDDR5 and LPDDR4x, supporting this is a UFS 3.1 fast storage.

This is a fresh processor, and we know that a lot of smartphone manufacturing companies will jump in on using it as soon as possible. The price range for devices that’d use this processor isn’t available yet. But we expect these devices to start trooping into the market in the third quarter of 2022.
